Laura Lomas Tomlinson

Welcome to my e-Portfolio.  I had a life long dream to become a librarian.  I finally took the plunge an enrolled in the Masters of Library Science program at University of North Texas, Denton, Texas in January 2017.  As of August 2018, I am certified school librarian.  I have met all the criteria required by the state of Texas to work in a K-12 library.  This requires 24 graduate credit hours of MLS courses, 160 hours of working alongside a mentor librarian, and a minimum of two years teaching in a public school, and have a master’s degree.  I have a Master’s of Art in Education degree from New Mexico State University School of Education.

I am on the final stretch of my program with only four courses to complete my second masters degree.  When I complete the degree in May of 2019, I will be ready to work in any of the libraries available:  school, public, or academia.  If I were to give a book title to my last two years, it would be She Persisted, by Chelsea Clinton.  Persistence has brought me this much closer to completing this degree.  I am looking forward to entering this ever-expanding field.
